Chapter 1 - How to save a life (Merida/Once-ler)
The sun had set, it was dinner time. The old man, the Once-ler, shrugged, dinner felt like a duty...every meal felt like a duty, it's something he had to do. He pulled myself off of his seat and went to the pot with boiling soup, its lid jumping up and down like a witch's magic recipe in a cauldron "Alright, I'm coming" he mumbled as he walked over to the greasy stove. He scooped the yellowish water into the bowl, and sat down looking from his window.
Actually, there was nothing to look at. He had covered it with wood so as not to see the view outside...still, he'd peak through, looking at the roots of chopped trees and a dead empty land away from any signs of life, well, looking at nothing, eating something that tastes like nothing, slowly his mind melting into nothing...
Sometimes he'd wonder what he's doing here anyway... he does know, but he doesn't like to think about it.

The quest for power consumed our home. The need for domination destroyed us. Still we live, and yet there is a piece in each of us that has been decimated forever. We will never recover what we have lost.
